On January 21st, thousands, hundreds of thousands, maybe even a million women and men are going to march on Washington, Trump Tower in NYC, and in many other cities all around the United States. (If you don’t already know why, you can read more about it here.)
The Pussyhat Project
Many of us are getting ready by knitting Pussy Hats for ourselves and other marchers to wear. There are knitting, crochet, and sewing patterns on the Pussyhat Project website.
The Pussyhat Project aims to:
- Provide the people of the Women’s March on Washington D.C. a means to make a unique collective visual statement which will help activists be better heard.
- Provide people who cannot physically be on the National Mall a way to represent themselves and support women’s rights.
The more we are seen, the more we are heard. Let’s come together to support women’s rights in a creative and impactful way.
My Talisman for 2017
I bought it last summer, on a whim. A crone and a cat, carved out of antler, made into a pendant. It called out to me like a siren as I passed by the booth at our town’s annual craft fair. I couldn’t understand what it meant, why I had to buy it. Now I know. The Pussy Goddess is my talisman for 2017. I am woman; hear me roar.
Return to 10 year old Donna in fourth grade, wanting to change her name to Donald, misunderstanding the core of “Women’s Lib.” It’s not about becoming a man, or anything like a man. It’s about claiming my power as a girl, as a woman. And now it’s about unleashing my power on the world.
The pussy grabber in chief has started something he won’t like. Pussies grabbing back. Women marching on Washington and Trump Tower. Women taking over. Our juju is strong. Our pussies are powerful. We will not be silenced.
