This warm and cozy hat features a lacy brim, baltic braid trim, and a geometric Lithuanian design that represents the sun. In winter, there is not much sunshine and thoughts of long, warm summer days are important to keep up morale during the cold dark months. The hat is knit on larger needles than the matching mittens, making it softer and stretchier, but no less warm. The unused color is stranded across the back of the work, creating a two-layer fabric that will block the wind.

Description

Description

This shoulder wrap was inspired by the reflections of the Anchorage skyline and mountains in the water at the edge of the city. The openings in the center and the undulating waves of the lace pattern remind me of the mountains themselves as well as of the ripples in the water when a light breeze is blowing. The dark blue yarn represents the view at night and the deep color of the cold water, with the eyelets as the lights that sparkle in the windows and the reflection.
