As you know from last year’s posts on this blog, we traveled to a lot of places in 2010. We clocked over 10,000 miles and maybe over 15,000 miles but we were not keeping track. Hawaii, Alaska, Florida, New York, and hopping around Europe every three weeks for 4 months.
That being said, we like to find the best ways to travel and how to travel to get the cheapest flights. Last year for our big trip to Europe we planned way ahead. Buying our tickets in February for flights in October. We saved over $500 total on flights to Britain by doing this. Note: Some airlines only allow you to book 6 months in advance. Some longer.
Today I heard in the news that the best days to fly are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Buy your tickets 3-4 months ahead of time and oh yeah, buy them on Tuesday afternoon. We can attest to the fact that this works.
So the next time you need to fly and are flexible. You can save a ton of money following these guidelines. The key word is flexible.
