Norwegian Bunny Headband
Design by Donna Druchunas
These cute bunnies are knit on a circular needle, so you don’t have to purl with two colors.
Also check out an article I wrote about Norwegian sweaters.
When you think of Norwegian knitting do you think of ski sweaters and mittens with snowflake designs on them?

Galway Chunky, 100% Wool, 123 yards/ 100g per ball
Color A: 722 (tan)
Color B: 712 (brown)
Size 7 U.S. (4.5 mm) circular needle, 16″ long, or size to obtain gauge
1 yard each of orange and green yarn or embroidery floss (optional)
Tapestry needle
Finished Size
Women’s medium
21″ circumference
Tip: For a larger headband, work at a loose gauge on larger needles. To make a child’s headband with an 18″ circumference, work in worsted weight yarn at 5 sts per inch.
Gauge
17 sts = 4″ over St st
Tip: If you get a tighter gauge when working with 2 colors than you do working plain St st, use a larger needle for the patterned portion of the headband. This pattern is worked at a tighter gauge than normally recommended for this yarn to create a dense, windproof headband.
Instructions
With color A, CO 90 sts.
Facing
Knit 17 rnds.
Purl 1 rnd (turning ridge).
Pattern
Knit 1 rnd.
Add color B and work all rows of chart.
Cut B and knit 1 rnd with color A.
BO.
Finishing
If desired, use the photo as a guide and embroider a carrot and furry tails on the bunnies.
Weave in ends. Whipstitch CO and BO edges together and bury last end inside headband.
If your colorwork tension is a little uneven, wash the headband and steam it through a damp towel to block. Make sure not to mash the fuzzy tails if you’ve added them to the bunnies.
