Three Craftsy.com Online Sock Classes with Donna Druchunas
Online sock classes with Donna Druchunas (Reviews and explanation of my three online sock courses)
I have three sock knitting classes on Craftsy. The first one, Knit Sock Workshop is about following patterns to make toe-up socks. The second and third courses, Knit Original Toe Up Socks and Knit Original Cuff Down Socks are both about designing your own socks. Read more below if you are not sure which class is right for you!
Knit Sock Workshop
My first Craftsy course, is about following a pattern to make two different pairs of socks with easy heels and unusual toes (two of my favorites). The toes in this class are different than the other toe-up class, plus we have tips for lace and stranded colorwork (Fair Isle) in this class. Beginners welcome. All you need to know is how to knit in the round on double pointed needles, or with 2 circular needles, or with a long circular needle using the magic loop technique.

Warm and cozy and cute – that’s what your feet will be when you put them in hand-knit socks. Inspired, happy and proud – that’s how you’ll feel when you’re the one who knit them by hand. Ready, willing, and able – that’s what Craftsy is when it comes to helping you knit socks from the cuff down!
Knit Original Cuff Down Socks
Master the traditional method of knitting socks with expert knitter and author Donna Druchunas. Donna guides you through sock fitting, heel shaping and stitch pattern choices. You’ll learn to use three different needle types (double-pointed needles, two circular needles or the magic loop). Even super-experienced sock knitters will discover inspired variations on heels and toes, stitches, yarns, needles and colors. Whether you customize the universal pattern, or tackle one of Donna’s three bonus sock designs, you will love the results.

You’ll learn to use three needle types (double-pointed needles, two circular needles and the magic loop). Toe up socks or Cuff down socks?
The new classes are for creating your own customized socks where you work out the size you need and select your own yarns, colors, and stitches. All skill levels welcome, but you may be more comfortable in this class if you’ve already made at least one pair from a pattern.
There is a Toe Up version and a Cuff Down version, because not all sock knitters are bisoxual, and even if you are, you may already be familiar with one direction of knitting socks and not the other. There’s also different information in each course about design choices and knitting techniques.
There are patterns included in the class, but during the videos we don’t go through a specific pattern. We go through the overall process of making custom (hence original) socks from a universal pattern that allows you to choose a toe and heel that you like, as well as pattern stitches that you like, and figure out everything for a perfect fit. These are basically sock design classes, but I don’t want to scare anyone off with the D word.
These two courses are on sale for $29 each. http://tinyurl.com/
So all the classes are different!
