Two days, really. Yesterday I had technical issues with my Quickbooks accounting software, and today I got a really stupid question about a book I tech edited. (Normally I would say there are no stupid questions, but I have to take that back. It wasn't stupid because the reader didn't understand something and needed help, it was stupid because she did understand what to do but was just trying to show how smart she was by asking about inconsistencies in the pattern. I have no idea why the publisher felt it was necessary to p ass the message on to me as I had already answered the reader's actual questions the day before.) Suffice it to say, I was in a pretty crappy mood this morning. So after my walk and getting some laundry done, I headed out to Shuttles, Spindles, and Skeins in Boulder. Here's what I got:

Japanese book cover
1) Nordic Knitting: Ten Fabulous Techniques.
This is a really cool Japanese knitting book that covers 10 (of course) interesting techniques from Finland, Denmark, Estonia, Sweden, and Norway. I'd seen most of the techniques before, but there are a couple of new ones and it's a little book of fun, small projects. Some day I want to do some books like that. But for now I will stick to long, complex books! Hahah. Anyway, love this book. And, as a bonus, the technique instructions are in Japanese and English, and there's an English glossary to accompany the patterns, which have only Japanese text. The link above goes to a review with several pictures.

2) Addi Turbo lace needles size 6, to make a second Endpapers shawl.

3) Trade in on 3 skeins of Koigu for new colors for the Endpapers shawl.

koigu and needles

So, tonight I will cast on for the new shawl. Buying yarn and books and needles and casting on for a new project always makes everything better. Tomorrow? Back to spring cleaning and, if I can get my shit together, helping Dom with some yardwork.

Smart place to go to reset the day. I have that book, found at the big Japanese bookstore in Seattle. Not the yarn, though.
