Cool, I made this:
lithuanian lace swatch

From these instructions, without using a dictionary:
Lithuanian lace pattern stitch instructions
Their photo is upside down -- the cast on edge is at the top.

Look below the fold for an English translation and a chart I made.

English Translation

Notes: This is written for Combination knitting so if you knit in an American style, you will need to change the left-slanting decreases to ssk and sssk.

I think in the beginning of the book the author specifies that you always have a selvedge stitch, which is why she said to cast on 30 sts. There are only 28 sts in the instructions for the patt.

If I'd written the instructions for this patt stitch, I would have set up the repeat differently to balance the vertical columns around the diagonal strips. But if you're knitting a flat pullover in pieces with side seams, this will make a nice way to have the pieces match up at the seams and the seam will be invisible when you join the purl columns.

Cast on 28 stitches.

Row 1: Purl 2, * yarn over, knit 3 stitches together through the back loops, yarn over, purl 2, yarn over, knit 2 stitches together through the back loops, knit 2, yarn over, knit 2 stitches together through the back loops, purl 2; repeat from * to end of row.

Row 2 (and all WS rows): Knit 2, * purl 6, knit 2, purl 3, knit 2; repeat from * to end of row.

Row 3: Purl 2, yarn over, knit 3 stitches together through the back loops, yarn over, purl 2, knit 1, yarn over, knit 2 stitches together through the back loops, knit 3, purl 2; repeat from * to end of row.

Row 5: Purl 2, yarn over, knit 3 stitches together through the back loops, yarn over, purl 2, knit 2, yarn over, knit 2 stitches together through the back loops, knit 2, purl 2; repeat from * to end of row.

Row 7: Purl 2, yarn over, knit 3 stitches together through the back loops, yarn over, purl 2, knit 3, yarn over, knit 2 stitches together through the back loops, knit 1, purl 2; repeat from * to end of row.

Repeat rows 1-8 for patt.

Chart

Note: The decreases in the chart are left slanting single (\) and double (inverted V) decreases.

Thanks, Melissa. I think my mother would just say "you are as stubborn as a mule!" Your way sounds better!

It's lovely, Donna, like a blue-ribbon for your Lithuanian-learning. You rock!

Thanks. Yeah. I am not really fluent for conversation, but I can get by on simple subjects. But the knitting reading is fantastic. I am thrilled.
